ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Dr. Ashoka Jahnavi Prasad has been a professor of psychiatry and medical anthropology at several universities around the world. He trained as a physician in the mid 70's and initially specialized in pediatrics in the Republic of Ireland before deciding to embark on a career in psychiatry training at the University of Edinburgh. Soon he worked for several doctorates simultaneously and at present holds doctorates in Neuropharmacology from Oxford, philosophy from North Carolina and history from Cambridge and another in biology plus three higher doctorates He also trained as Jungian analyst in Switzerland and holds a Masters in Genetic Counseling in addition to being a qualified barrister and LL M from Harvard.
He has published widely both in scientific journals and popular press. He has been elected a Foreign Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, one of the leading international academic honors and holds a string of honorary doctorates!
‘Prasad's Syndrome’, an illness is named after him. He now devotes most of his time to charitable work and philosophical analysis. At a very young age of 39, he was appointed as the Member of the Indian Institute of Advanced Study Society, serving there for 3 years.
